Healthengine enhances Waitlist feature with automated SMS to simplify management for practices
Healthengine’s latest innovation helps practices quickly fill cancellations and allows patients to secure last-minute appointments with the new automated SMS feature.
Patients waiting for healthcare services can now receive instant SMS notifications for newly available appointments, giving them the opportunity to secure an appointment sooner. This automated SMS feature streamlines the booking process, making it easier for patients to secure appointments as soon as they open up.
Healthengine, Australia’s largest consumer healthcare platform, introduced this SMS functionality as part of its Waitlist product, initially launched in early 2024, for GPs, allied health practitioners, specialists and eligible dentists. The addition of automated SMS notifications allows practices to automatically fill cancellations with minimal front desk interaction, increasing efficiency, reducing admin time, and generating more revenue while delivering timely care to patients.
Dan Stinton, CEO of Healthengine, said the feature was developed in response to strong customer demand.“Waitlist was designed to replace the manual management of patient waitlists, eliminating the need for Post-it notes and spreadsheets,” Stinton said. “With the new automated SMS feature, filling a cancelled appointment is now easier than ever. This not only makes things simpler for practices, but also helps patients access the care they need faster.”
The Waitlist feature allows practices to add patients directly, while patients can also join waitlists themselves via the Healthengine platform.
